Why Do Your Joints Pop?

physiotherapist working with patient neck

If you’re looking for back pain relief or neck pain relief, you might try stretching to pop your joints. Upon being stretched, it’s common for joints to make a cracking or popping sound. This noise may sound alarming, but it’s harmless. This sound is commonly heard during treatments from a chiropractor.

As you’ll learn by watching this video, your joints are lubricated by synovial fluid produced by the synovial membrane. Stretching causes the bones that meet at the joint to pull apart slightly. When this happens, the synovial membrane also stretches, causing a drop in the pressure within the joint.
