Dr. Henson received his undergraduate degree in Nutrition & Exercise Sciences cum laude from Queens College, NY. He went on to pursue his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Stony Brook University, NY.
During his clinicals, Dr. Henson received training under Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapists (COMT) utilizing the Restricted Based Approach (RBA) as a treatment philosophy for patients.
Dr. Henson’s philosophy of care centers on the biopsychosocial model, in which he treats every patient not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. He uses this approach to treat the entire person, not just their diagnoses. Dr. Henson has employed pain science education as an integral aspect of each patient’s plan of care to get to the root of the problem.
Outside of providing physical therapy care, Dr. Henson is a member/athlete affiliated with USA Powerlifting (USAPL) competing in the 83kg weight class. He enjoys being involved in the powerlifting community including participating in competitive meets. His fitness interests and career meet in his love of strength sports rehabilitation for fellow athletes.
Both of Dr. Henson’s parents are physical therapists. Physical therapy has always been a part of his life. At the age of 8, Dr. Henson spent his days after school at his dad’s clinic. There he was able to see physical therapy change patients' lives! That experience at such a young age inspired him to pursue a physical therapy career. He worked as a tech for over 4 years before physical therapy school and has multiple clinical experiences in outpatient orthopedic settings.
When he’s not helping patients, Dr. Henson enjoys watching football and basketball. He’s a native New Yorker and a lifelong New York Giants and New York Knicks fan. Look for Dr. Henson on the trails, he’s a dog lover and enjoys taking his rescue dog on hikes!
Dr. Henson just recently moved to Houston from New York and has enjoyed discovering all of the great food, local history, landmarks and sports events Houston has to offer with his fiance.
